MEMBERSHIP
ORAIN is a membership Coalition that draws members from registered or formal groups or non-governmental organizations, including farmer-groups, corperate bodies and civil society organizations based in Nigeria, whose aims and goals are in support of organic and agroecology. Membership will strictly be based on organizations and not individuals
Membership Eligibility
- New members (Regular and Associate) shall be admitted to the Coalition by consensus of the Governing Council and upon due diligence of the applicants.
- Any organization in Nigeria focusing on organic and agroecology can be a member of ORAIN.
Categories of membership
- Regular Members: Organizations within Nigeria dedicated to developing organic and agroecology
- Statutory members shall constitute the representatives of relevant Federal ministries, and Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in Nigeria.
- Associate Members (with no voting right): Individual persons that support and facilitate development of organic and agroecology in Nigeria. ORAIN Patrons and Champions, also, qualify as Associate members. They shall not have any voting right.
Conditions of Membership
- Full members and Associates shall pay an agreed membership fee upon admission to the Coalition
- All members shall pay annual membership dues
- The amount of the membership fee shall be determined by the Governing Council in consultation with members of the Coalition and could be reviewed from time to time.
- Admission of members shall be on quarterly basis, except otherwise approved by the Governing Council
- New membership becomes formal upon full payment of one-time membership fee and annual dues
- Members agree and comply with this constitution, rules and regulations set thereafter
Rights and Benefits of regular members (organizations)
Full members have the following rights
- Maintain the mandates of individual organizations
- Representatives can vote and be voted into elective positions in ORAIN.
- One vote per organization for elective decisions of ORAIN.
- Opportunity to be part of implementing partners appropriate projects of ORAIN, in line with the mandate or competence of the specific member organization.
- Opportunity to attract projects through or in collaboration ORAIN.
- Networking with members of the Coalition in resource mobilization
- Involvement in consultancy activities of ORAIN
- Rebate on appropriate activities of ORAIN as determined by the Coalition
- Opportunity to represent ORAIN at different fora
- Can vote and be voted into leadership position in ORAIN
